Design Center Administrator (ten years)
Managed a staff of four design professionals and technicians. Department purpose: create and manage the OSB web page; produce most of the OSB's electronic publishing projects, including directories, Continuing Legal Education brochures, forms, program books, program brochures, newsletters and miscellaneous projects for OSB departments and affiliated organizations. At various times, other program responsibilities included WordPerfect support, OSB database support for address changes, and (in the ancient past) WordPerfect and DOS training.
Systems and Software Used: PC based system printing to Postscript printers and directly to file and digital output devices. Software included Quark Express, Corel Ventura Publisher, Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Type Manager, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite of products, html coding software. Hardware included pcs, scanner, and postscript printers.
Responsibilities: Staff supervisor, including hiring, firing, (with executive director approval), employee scheduling and evaluation. Provide program support for department hardware and software. Occasional reliance on Information Systems department, but most problem solving remained in the department. Create and maintain department budget.
Liaison: Staff liaison to various bar committees and sections, including Corporate Counsel, Agricultural Law, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Aviation Law, Lawyer Referral Committee, Lawyer Alcohol and Drug Dependencies Committee,
Other positions with the OSB
Six years as the Lawyer Referral Administrator. Participated intimately in the conversion of the program from 3 x 5 cards to a completely computerized system integrated with the OSB database.
Various other temporary project oriented responsibilities, including acting affirmative action administrator, staff liaison to MCLE and Specialization committees.
Member of four-person task force charged with creating the OSB web page, leading to transfer of responsibility for web page design and management to the Design Center.
